Discover the history and magic of the Highlands as we spend the day exploring the places connected to the Outlander books and television series.
From your pick up location, we will take you to Inverness, our beautiful Highland capital and home to several locations mentioned in the books; Culloden Battlefield, scene of the last and most devastating pitched battle to be fought on mainland British soil; the bronze age burial cairns and standing stones of Clava Cairns; Loch Ness and through some breathtaking scenery as we make our way to the Wardlaw Mausoleum at Kirkhill, before our final stop in the beautiful Fraser town of Beauly.

Itinerary
- Pick up from hotel / chosen location
- Culloden Battlefield - from your pickup point we will head straight to Culloden Battlefield, where we will discuss the battle, it’s connection to Outlander and the history of the Jacobites. You will have time to explore the battlefield and the visitor centre.
- Clava Cairns, outstanding bronze age circular chambered cairns and standing stones, built to celebrate the winter solstice.
- Inverness for a short walking tour and visits to the Old High Kirk, Abertarff House and the site of Inverness Castle. There will be an opportunity to have lunch here.
- Photostop at Loch Ness.
- Wardlaw Mausoleum - the burial place of the Lovat Fraser Clan (Only open April - September Wednesdays and Saturdays, so will only be included on the relevant days)
- Beauly for a visit to the Priory ruins, one of only three priories in Scotland founded in Scotland in around 1230 for an order of Valliscaulian monks. It went on to become the burial grounds for both the Frasers and the Mackenzies. In the Outlander books, this is where Claire met the Seer, Maisri. Complete your visit to Beauly with tea at the Lovat Arms Hotel, built around 1870 for guests visiting the Lovat Estates. It has been owned by the Fraser family since 1988.
- Return to your location via the Black Isle, a peninsula surround on three sides by the waters of the Beauly, Cromarty and Inverness Firths. It has a fascinating history with strong connections to Clan MacKenzie.
